The common language: Features

We need to break down our silos to survive in the world of software-defined vehicles

We build bridges by developing a common language. Now let's get a little more specific: what do features mean?

A feature of a product can be something quite abstract: it could be a function, a property or a component that makes up the feature.

Let's take the example of a ‘bunch of bananas’:
the function: the bunch can be divided and each banana can be peeled
the component: each banana contains one fruit.
the attribute: the banana peel is predominantly yellow.

But features are also relevant for the authorities: EU Regulation 1333/2011 defines more than 15 attributes that regulate the marketing standards for bananas.

Your product must now fulfil all these requirements in order to be offered on this market. It is therefore immensely important to understand the features of your product very well.

What examples of features can you think of?
